Re: Carrion Crown Chapt. 1
Thanks deputy, I'm just glad we could handle this without a body coming out of here. We need to discuss this woman with the others Bill. Maybe someone else has had a more vivid dream than us, or has read something we haven't. Otherwise we need to carry on with our plan before this morning.
After I rest first... I need some time to meditate on this.

Yes, lets get to the house so we can discuss this in private.

Re: Carrion Crown Chapt. 1
The party sets off toward the house and the deputy waits for Gibbs to gather his things. There are mumbles from the other villagers on the street about the fight but they pay you no heed since you didn't kill the man. Your trip to the house is uneventful and the time is about 07:15 when you get there.
Re: Carrion Crown Chapt. 1
Dreams seems to be a key part of what's going on here... something is happening in our heads. Has anyone been able to remember their dreams lately? Gibbs has only been doing what he's doing because something is messing with him. Bill, we might need to investigate Gibbs's place more deeply... find out where he's getting the blood from.

So odd that Gibbs's dream was of being a murderer and yours was being a victim... Evil is at work here. Bill, We should head to the crypt and you can map it out while we look for the tools the professor was talking about. If we want to get to Harrowstone effectively we will need them. I expect supernatural activity to be at work there if it prevented the professor's work.

Spring meditates for an hour, and calms down after the encounter. He spends the time peacefully thinking about what happened and how he can continue to help even though humans are odd. He then checks up on Bill, and finishes his work by channeling divine energy.
here ya go Bill, this should probably make you feel right as stone. Spring plays a cheerful tune to relax the mood before they go crawl through a creepy crypt.

Arriving at the church Father Grimburrow meets you with two young acolytes.
These boys will take you to the crypt that you indicated and unlock it for you. I wouldn't expect to find much of anything in there though but anything you do find you may have as long as you report to us any problems we may face
The acolytes walk you to the Restlands and lead you through the paths to the crypt doors. As he unlocks the door you notice there are acid burns carefully placed on the lock and the key truly does nothing other than give the appearance of security.
We will wait out here for your return.
Stepping in you see the darkness swallow a stair case going down. It is old and musty smelling with dust caking the floor.
Perception and Survival rolls with your posts pls.

Should I lead the way, or you? I have no problem seeing even in pitch black. I've spent my fair share of time underground as well, but this is your profession.
haven't headed in, so that's why i haven't rolled yet.

Spring's eyes adjust to the light in this dark environment, and after a minute can see perfectly clear into the dark as he stands near the light.
Ready to roll... let's see what we have here.

Re: Carrion Crown Chapt. 1
Bill is easily able to spot dusty footprints leading the way down the stairs. Closer inspection of them tells you both that they were made by a man with a slight limp as if old joints were acting up, most likely the professors tracks.
Making your way down the stairs into the pits of the dead there is an unsettling feeling. There are rather large cracks in the walls and chunks of stone missing in some places. The footprints lead you to a room on the left side of the stairs about 400' into the earth. Inside the room there is a sarcophagus along the back wall. It appears to have once been made for an extremely important man as the carvings in the stone are exquisite but it can only be assumed that he was a man of god as no gold or gem has been mounted to it.
I need positioning in the room for where you will be and perception checks for each post while in the crypt.

Re: Carrion Crown Chapt. 1
With Bill in the lead, I think Spring will be 1 squares behind. I can see further than him anyways with 60' darkvision and him only being able to see about 40' with a torch, so i'll be able to see past where he's looking since you can look through an occupied square of a medium creature, and I'll be following his steps carefully so that way i won't trigger any mechanisms that by walking in an entirely new area. safety first. If Bill replies with a better way for me to follow, I'll go with that as Spring was never an expedition leader, he's only ever been on a crew as a medic.
That one in the back looks the most important. I wonder if that one is where the tools the professor is talking about are. But something must have prevented the professor from getting them. Give me a minute, let me check this place out before we get too close.
detect undead when the sarcophagus on the back wall is within 60' of me (so I can see it anyways) and scan the entire room for the duration to detect any undead auras that are still lingering or have been in the area.

Well I wish that would be a relief, but it would seem something prevented the professor from continuing on and it wasn't an undead. After you then Bill.

You can see that the sarcophagus was opened recently as the footprints lead up to it and there are hand prints in the dust where someone would have pushed on the lid. Also there are small piles of dust round the edges where the dust would have fallen from the lid being slid open.
Re: Carrion Crown Chapt. 1
This is looking a lot like what I thought earlier. He's already taken the tools from here. Or maybe there's nothing in there. The professor made it there safely and even opened it. So he took the tools, or they aren't in there.

Possibly, on the other hand, the only thing we have that tells us that the tools are in this sarcophagus is the ornate nature of if.

The lid slides back easily and there is a note that says "Well done -P" The professor only took a few supplies from here and the inside is full of goodies.
12 silver arrows
4 Sun rods
6 flasks of holy water
10 +1 arrows
5 +1 Ghost touch arrows
2 +1 undead bane arrows
5 potions of cure light wounds
2 potions of lesser restoration
1 scroll of detect undead
2 scrolls hide from undead
1 scroll protection from evil
1 darkwood case decorated with an image of a scarab with a single eye glaring from its back (the same design from the book)
Bill hears a sound behind him. Spinning around you see 2 giant centipedes moving quickly across the room.

Spring quickly draws his warhammer. I hate bugs. Especially ones that are larger than me. Let's get 'em. We should focus on that one on the left.

Spring moves in to a combat position. He's practiced quite a lot in 20 years of Dwarven military service. Gotcha, I can handle poison but only after combat.
